I really hope it isn't.
Reimer got a concussion last season and it started as a day-to-day upper body injury that just kept getting worse and worse. |

Well, the league just set it's line with no suspension to Cooke. I look for every game to have at least 1 player injured from now on. Ryan got a free shot at Craw, Cooke at Karlsson. I would be shocked if Joe doesn't go after toews again tonight. |

Concussion effect each individual differently. Some are effected right then and there other won't feel symptoms for as much as two days later......possibly more. |

And for the same physiological reasons, recovery times can vary.

Let's hope it is not of the Jonas Hiller variety of recovery time. That dude is still not right.

Good news is, have not heard of him having one before (which is generally a positive). |

I understand and celebrate the mantra of hockey players playing through an injury. Keith with no front teeth,Matt Walker with a dislocated finger and on and on, but a concussion? I'm not sure I'm on board with that. Keith and countless other players have fake choppers. Fingers and stitches heal but injuries to the brain as we're now seeing from studies from football player's brains is that they don't. Why was it CC's call in the first place? Does the league have any protocols concerning head trauma? |

I was amazed that Ryan didnt at least get an interfernece penalty. A few years ago goal-tender interference was all the rage. Now it is interference.
Re. Head trauma Protocol, it is my understanding that once the team declares a player concussed hte league has a mandatory 7 day sit-out period. Thus Coach Q and the dreaded upper-body injury. |

No way to diagnose in game beyond how the player reports his own symptoms—if he does at all.
There are clear diagnostic protocols, but they are medical not official or binding by the league as far as I know. Ultimately it is up the player, the player's doctor and the team. |

For athletes these days..."concussion" seems to be the dirtiest word out there. Hope Crow's is not serious. |
